I’m back to Singapore, arriving on an early flight to make it to cheaper one to Hanoi four hours later. The 30 degrees heat feels nice but it promises humid air in Vietnam where there’s raining season in full swing. Some more wet days walking the streets of cities and trekking the countryside. After a few lazy days on the Kuta beach that sounds very appealing. It’s the last two weeks of my Asian adventure and I want to use every minute of it.
Hanoi welcomes me with grey low clouds and fog covering the city. It’s not looking great, I’m very tired after early night spent on planes and airports and on top of that my bank decides after four weeks of withdrawing money all over Asia that there must be some fraud going on and blocks my card. For a moment the vision of having roughly twenty dollars for two weeks in a strange country flashes in front of my eyes but luckily I manage to convince them I’m a genuine card owner and everything’s back on track.
The Green Diamond Hotel is great for its price and finally feels like a bit of civilization, the staff is great and amazingly helpful organizing my Halong Bay trip and train ticket further south for me. The Vietnamese adventure begins and I can relax and go and explore Hanoi the next day. I already love the buzz of the Old District all around and colorful narrow streets filled with people and traffic.
Hello Vietnam, it’s nice to finally meet you!
