It’s time to leave the jungle and start the journey. I will definitely miss the elephants, over the last two weeks I got to know them a bit, recognize them by name and I found some favorite ones. And I know unless I come back to place like this, I’ll never be as close to an elephant as here and in a way life will never be the same again.

We’re saying our goodbyes in two parts - in the morning in the valley, bathing in the sun for a change, where one of them makes a trumpeting sound as we ascend the slippery path on the way back; and in the afternoon at the washing place. I like the second more as that’s where you get really close to the elephants and where they play with you spraying water all over.

My bag is packed and I’ve said all goodbyes to the spiders, mice and two large geckos. They were not necessarily fun, but part of great experience for which I’m grateful. I’m not going to miss them - too many sleepless nights, but they were part of the jungle fun.
